Echo Retains its Classic Flair and Local Fare

Great Service and Classic Food Bring an Echo of the Past to the Future

Portland, OR. September 29, 2009 – In a city where service is not typically king, new restaurant owners Adam Treanor and Justin Selders are determined to beat a different path at Echo restaurant, located just north of Broadway on MLK Boulevard. Beginning with a friendly greeting, the sublime service continues with knowledgeable wait staff delivering the restaurant’s fresh American fare with speed and precision.

Setting Echo apart from other upscale restaurants are their new late hours-open until 2am every night- for those who crave a late dinner or just a post-bar snack.

Under new ownership since March, much of the new cuisine is sourced at local farmers’ markets to keep the menu fresh, local and affordable. Echo features wines, a full dessert menu and a daily happy hour menu that is stuffed with vegetarian and carnivorous delicacies including a house-made red pepper hummus and a Painted Hills “Echo” burger.

With its mellow yet elegant atmosphere, Echo has something to offer everyone, whether a first date with that special someone, or just a late night nosh with friends.

New Art Showing: Instruments

Instruments: A Photography CollectionLorraine L. “Stratt” Stratton has been photographing since the late sixties, when she was in junior high. She currently teaches photography, yearbook and credit recovery classes at Clackamas High School southeast of Portland, OR. About her Instruments collection, Lorraine writes:

I’ve been photographing musical instruments for the past few years. Last spring (2008) I worked with one of my high school students on band instruments (clarinet, English horn, flute, tenor saxophone and oboe). He brought them from home and from the band room. I showed him how to use my light tent and macro lens then turned him loose.  When he was done I took advantage of their presence and created my own images. He created his best work all year and I was inspired to continue my journey photographing instruments.

Sumer Lovin: Savor the last days of the season

Recently, the Portland Monthly magazine named Echo as one of the “Six ways to savor the last days of the season.” We were delighted for the compliments and happy to help so many of you stay cool and relaxed. If you haven’t checked us out, come see what all the summer hype is about.

Summer in a Cup
A Pimm’s Cup slides down as smoothly as a Long Island Iced Tea, but without the sucker punch. A classic version of the English cocktail, like the one offered by Echo Restaurant, starts with muddled cucumber shaken with Pimm’s Cup No. 1, a dark, herbaceous, but gentle 50-proof liqueur. Add in gin, fresh-squeezed lemon and lime, and ginger ale, and this concoction will brighten your day instead of blurring it.
